Your Guide to Parking Permits

Do I Need A Parking Permit for A Moving Truck or POD?

You’ve thought of everything from your hairdryer to the kitchen sink as you have planned your upcoming move. You know when to pick up the moving truck and exactly how much time you have to pack everything inside, but have you thought about a moving permit at your new city?

A parking permit requirement is typically not only limited to a moving truck. If you have a portable storage container or freight trailer you will most likely be required to obtain a permit as well.

MyWay Storage City ParkingMany large cities require them, and some small cities do too. We’ve compiled a list of top cities that we know need permits, and we’d like to share that list with you! Of course, this information may change before we can get to it; so definitely check with the city to make sure you’ve taken care of everything.

Helpful Tips

Be sure to apply for your city’s permit well in advance and tell them all the specifics about your move. For example, if you’ll be using a metered location, the city will likely charge more to reserve those spaces. Then, be sure to ask about “No Parking” signs and the legal placement of those signs.

While we did our best to add well-known cities to benefit many people, this list does not include all possible cities out there. You’ll find our roundup of cities that require moving permits below:
