Hiring Movers To Move Furniture In Your Existing Home

Two movers carry a piece of furniture up a set of stairs

Chances are you wouldn't know this type of moving service even existed until you needed it. Believe it or not, there are many different reasons why you may need to hire a moving company to move furniture or boxes within your existing home or on your property. In fact, there is such a demand for this service that, on average, 14% of our reservations fall into this category. Although a relatively small percentage of our overall reservations, it still translates to approximately 3,200 of these types of moves each year.

Although there are many different ways to describe this service, we internally refer to it as a "Furniture Move". Some other terminologies for the same or similar moving services include: In-home move, in-house moving, on-site move, and room to room moving. But why would you need this service? We've outlined the most common situations where an on-site move or furniture moving services are helpful.

Apartment to Apartment Moves

If you live in an apartment or high rise there may come a time when you want to move from your current home to another within the same building or apartment complex. For example, if your current apartment is on the 5th floor and you've decided to move to another apartment on the 18th floor- better views woot woot! Or, if your apartment is located in 'Building A' and you want to move to a different apartment next door in 'Building B'.

In both cases a moving truck is not necessary to complete the move, so a full-service moving company is not required. Instead, you can hire moving help by the hour to do all of the heavy lifting and handle the movement of your items between the new apartments. You'll most likely save 30-40% by hiring moving labor (movers without the truck) over a full-service mover.

Single Item Movement

You've got a massive armoire that you want to get rid of but it's on the 2nd floor and too heavy to move by yourself. This is where furniture movers can come to the rescue!

New Furniture

If you've purchased new furniture you probably need to get rid of the old stuff. Donation pick-up services usually require the items to be on the ground level or outside of the home. Not all furniture delivery services will bring the items into your home either. There are many occasions where they must leave the furniture on the ground floor or outside of the home. We can take over from there, placing the new furniture into the correct rooms.

Rearranging & Organizing

Want to move a sofa from the living room to the family room? Or swap bedroom suites between two bedrooms? Whatever the scenario, our movers are ready to help move furniture around your home.

Renovations

Having new flooring or carpet installed? Is the home being painted? Home improvement companies typically do not move furniture, which means that someone will have to clear out the rooms being renovated. People often hire our movers to have the items moved to another room, garage, or portable storage container (POD) outside while work is being done to the home. When the work is complete, reserve furniture movers again, this time to put everything back where it belongs.

Home Staging

If you're preparing to sell your home you may decide to stage it. If so, you will probably need furniture and boxes moved to different places within the home, garage, or to a storage container.

Eviction Clean Out

You've been granted the ability to evict your tenant and now everything needs to be moved out of the home. Whether to a dumpster or the curb, our movers can help.

Hiring Furniture Movers

When the time comes to choose a furniture mover for your in-home or on-site move make sure you research local movers thoroughly. A low price may cost you in the end, whether by the quality of work provided, hidden fees, or the reliability and reputation of the company.
