We were extremely disappointed with the placement of the heavy furniture in the truck. Most of the dressers and tables were loaded upside down. Large spaces were left between items which would allow them to "move" during the trip causing mars and scratches. One dresser was loaded upside down a full 6 inches away from the side wall. One leg was broken off a large buffet dresser. Another leg was broken off a sleeper sofa. I don't lay all the blame on the two men, I question the training they received before being allowed to "load" a moving truck. This move was the 37th move my wife and I have made in the last 40 years. This was the first time we had "hired" help with loading the truck. Upset and disappointment is an understatement. The team consisted of young men who, while pleasant and personable, were not capable or prepared for the job. They were very slow and damaged floors, walls and stairs. A job that should have taken four to five hours took double that time. Several times I would see some of the team standing around. In the middle of the job I was told that a team member needed to leave, that they were all going but three would be back to finish. After I protested, they spent some time discussing with the owner and agreed to leave two of the helpers behind to continue the job. These gentlemen worked very diligently to get the rest of the job done. The third member of the team never came back to help them finish. At the end of the move when I discussed the damages to the property I was told by the owner that damage was to be expected, that it was my job to protect the property when we moved heavy items and that exercise equipment, an elliptical and treadmill, were not household items. Very disappointed in owner's attitude when we spoke, she was resisting repair or payment of wood damages. I was not even asking for repair of damages to the walls and repainting. I only asked for floor, stairs and railing repair. She stated that she did not have anyone able to complete the repairs.
