4/19/2013Portable Storage Load 3 movers were requested, but the day before the move I was told only 2 could come because 1 was sick. The scheduled window was 9-11am and by 11:35 when no one showed or contacted me, I called Elite and was told the 'project manager' (Jackie) would be contacted to determine the delay. After 2-1/2 hours of minimal contact or updates, I finally learned the original crew was MIA and out of communication with Jackie. Jackie then said 2 other guys from Student Movers would be coming out (I wondered if it's not the original 2, then couldn't I have 3 as originally planned so the job could get done quicker since they were already 3 hours behind?). Jackie assured me the guys coming were from Student Movers, but at the end of the packing, 1 of the guys handed me a business card from Labor Ready (nothing against these guys as I know from working at the Court what an asset Labor Ready is to our community, but it was wrong for Jackie to lie to me). A second container was needed to complete the loading, which arrived early the next morning. Both of the guys said they could come anytime, but to call Olga at Labor Ready to schedule them, which I did. Frank from the first day (who was the hardest working, most conscientious about items, and most knowledgeable about how to safely load and secure items, told me that he got in trouble with Elite for NOT lying and telling me they were from Student Movers rather than Labor Ready. Frank didn't return the second day as expected for an unknown reason, and another guy came in his place -- definitely not at all as experienced as Frank). The 2 guys that came the next day loaded things in a haphazard manner and I questioned the stability of some items, but they didn't repack and rather assured me things were fine. They broke two outdoor chairs, slipped and let go of the couch in the entry way and the leg smashed into the wall leaving a round indentation and paint marks, and marked the walls when moving almost every piece of furniture out of the house. At this point I just wanted the job done since I was already a day late getting on the road. Both of the containers have been picked up and are on their way to my final destination and I'm praying that the second container's contents aren't damaged, but to be honest I won't be surprised if they are because of the haphazard manner in which the container was loaded. When I first booked Elite to do this job, I was asked if I still wanted the unload in Colorado Springs, and I said if your guys do a great job in Reno, then absolutely yes, I'll schedule the unload. As you've probably guessed, I'll be calling someone else to do the unload. By the way, Frank should be commended for being truthful, honest, hard-working and reliable. In my experience, Elite is none of these things.
