Average Moving Truck MPG

Whether you are renting a truck from U-Haul, Penske, or Budget you probably want to know what kind of gas mileage you can expect. It's important to be aware that the truck size is not the only factor in your fuel economy. Other variables, like the age of the truck, maintenance history, terrain (flat or hills) and fuel type (unleaded or diesel) all play a role in the actual MPG.

The table below provides an approximate MPG range for the most common rental truck sizes. If you're budgeting for an upcoming move and need an accurate estimate of how much gas will cost use our rental truck fuel calculator.
